Bobby Burns came by the other day. We sat on an old rickety wooden porch gazing out over the calm pastures. We gaggled in multiple conversations about when cows come back to chew hay, when do cows decide to chew hay lying down and why, they walk to a fence where someone is playing an instrument and listen endlessly, until it stops.

We pondered other oddities, too. But, before talking about the birds and the bees, litterally, I needed to wet my whistle.

Bobbie’s cousin Rob came into the mixture and said this…

The perfect Manhattan day involves replacing scotch with bourbon or rye in this formula and the one following. Rob Roy became Bobbie Burns in this way: they took out the happy and added a dash of Drambuie (drama) to Rob Roy, then poof he became a bobbie burns. Bitter them both up with Peychaud for more tasteful conversations.

Stir well with ice cubes: 1 jigger dry vermouth, 1 jigger sweet vermouth (dry humor with sweetness) 6 jiggers bourbon or rye. Add 1 dash of angostura bitters (maraschino cheery)

Bitter Sweet with ice & bourbon and a rye sandwich on the side.

Bobbie became very tired after a few and fell into dreamland.

We never spoke again. At least I was able to twist his cocktail recipe out of him for myself.
